Summer Daze

Flashback to the beginning of summer in Kyoto town 2013...  how come the Japanese can wear a suit in 40C+ heat and 99% humidity and seem to cope (if  a little uncomfortably) and the rest of us melt like ice blocks under a grill?? 

Anyone?

Summer in Kyoto きょうとう なつ

I constantly miss Kyoto town but as the Japanese summer swings into full pelt I'm reminded how relieved I am to be living in Sydney -enjoying my first winter in some time.  The photos below are predominantly from this time last year - ie the beginning of Kyoto summer. It doesn't look so hot...June is kinda bearable - but July and August are extremely challenging - to put it mildly. With humidity at 99% on most days and temperatures reaching a "real feel" of 52C at its peak last year - well let's just say- my thoughts are with you Kyoto friends!  Stay cool with some kakigori for me. xx
